FAQ

Is Mineral Makeup easy to apply?

It is VERY easy to apply. The biggest difficulty lies in getting used to take very little product. At first, it can be easy to over apply, especially because it can take a few moments for the minerals to blend onto your skin and warm up to reveal their full intensity.

Is Mineral Makeup safe for all skin types?

Because of their naturally soothing properties, minerals will suit you whatever your skin type (dry or oily). Mineral makeup is perfect for women with sensitive skin, acne, rosacea or post cosmetic procedures. Minerals form a protective and non-comedogenic barrier over your skin, allowing it to breathe normally.

Is Mineral Makeup all natural?

Absolutely, all our ingredients are exclusively derived from natural minerals that are carefully purified and refined. Then, they are finely milled and pulverized into loose powders to very specific cosmetic standards. Our pure mineral powders are totally harmless to your skin.

Can I mix my mineral powders?

Yes, all the shades of all the powders can be combined as you wish, giving you endless possibilities to create new shades and customize your colours. Let inspiration be your guide!

What’s the difference between regular and mineral powders?

A regular powder mattifies the skin and helps absorb exces oil. It is translucent in order not to interfere with the colour of the foundation layer (on which it is applied). It is therefore very rich in translucent ingredients like rice powder and absorbing ones such as talc, but lacks pigments or opacifying agents. The « powdered » aspect may cause a « mask » effect - looking a little plastered-over. On the contrary mineral makeup is very rich in pigments (iron oxides) and contains a well balanced composition in opacifying ingredients (titanium dioxide, zinc oxide ) and light-reflecting ones (mica, silk, serecite ; boron nitride) for perfect coverage, even complexion and radiant flawless skin.

What’s the difference between the various mineral makeup brands?

The most demanding mineral makeup brands proscribe questionnable ingredients such as bismuth oxychloride or talc that can cause skin irritation. Neither will they use harmful ingredients that could affect both the skin or the environment (parabens, petroleum- based). The various ingredients used in mineral powders (titanium-dioxide, zinc oxide, magnesium stearate, boron nitride, mica or silk) offer distinct and complementary properties (opacity / transparency, silky-glide or adhesion, satin-soft or matte effects). The originality, comfort, texture or softness of a mineral makeup line lies in in its particular blend of mineral components. Moreover, the quality of these components varies, and unfortunately the most precious ones such as silk, boron nitride or sericite for examples, also happen to be more expensive. That is why some brands tend to use them in low amounts, offering less refined , less comfortable and less beautifying powders.

Do I need to use special brushes?

Yes, this new approach to makeup means new gestures : specially designed brushes -whether synthetic, kabuki or flat top- that are very soft and with large tuft of very thin and dense bristles make it perfect to pick up and hold enough powder to evenly distribute and blend it onto the skin. Unifying and blending powder into an impalpable layer lies in good brush work. Of course, you can give it a try with other brushes but you will not get as neat a finish.

Will Mineral Makeup dry my skin out?

This will not happen if you thoroughly moisturize and nourish your skin and wait for your moisturizer to settle before using our powders. Most non- mineral powders dry the skin out because they use talc as their main ingredient. By the way, if you have dry skin, with or without makeup – be it mineral or not – there is only one thing to do : moisturize, moisturize and moisturize again.
